********************************************* Summer and Fall Schedule 2022 As Summer and Fall approach in the US, my class schedule will be altered to accommodate the active lives and vacation times of Outschool Learners and families. Family time is one of the most important aspects of a child's life and I want to make sure to honor that throughout the Summer and Fall for everyone! LABOR DAY NO CLASSES MONDAY SEPT 5th FALL BREAK NO CLASSES SEPT 29 - Oct 9th HALLOWEEN NO CLASSES October 31st ******************************************* Erasers are my best friend! Why? We all make mistakes! I always mention that the eraser is by far my favorite art supply! The only way we can grow as artists is by correcting what just doesn't look, seem or feel right in our work, without becoming upset. We need to become aware of our artistic errors humbly embrace them and learn from them to make our artwork grow. So let's get those erasers ready along with our sharpened pencils! (Please note: Since this is a private lesson be sure to stay in touch as a parent and learner so I know what your expectations are and what you would like to learn each session. My door is always open and parent/teacher and learner/teacher communication are key for a high-quality lesson). Are you looking to take your drawing skills to the next level? Do you want the independence to choose what to draw rather than what is chosen by a group? Are you looking to build your artistic confidence? Beginners and Intermediate young artists are welcome to try out this class as we navigate through the world of sketching, drawing, and breaking things down into shapes. Whether you are looking to work on your own style or improve what you already have, with the goal of one day creating hyper-realistic art, this class is for you! Let’s learn or improve our shading skills together! Let’s play with perspectives! Let’s see how we can make one subject look realistic and then more abstract or cartoony! It’s time to improve your art skills and experiment with your own style in this private one on one art session. Each week learners will choose the project we will work on together. While I draw the artwork, learners are welcome to follow along as I teach certain techniques as well as put their own spins on the piece to make it their own. In this particular class, we will be focusing solely on drawing with graphite pencils, erasers, and blenders. Over time we may move on to inking and marker art. Also note, there will be a period of time that we will not be having class. Family time is important to me (yours and mine) and I work in regularly scheduled breaks to enjoy some time in the great outdoors with my family each month. Learners will be notified two weeks in advance of any scheduling changes. Animals, insects, cars, dragons, cartoon characters, anime, still life, you name it we will work on it if you choose to do so! Learners are expected to continue working on their projects outside of class each week. Art takes time and we may not always have a piece of completed artwork each week in class. Part of artistic confidence comes from trial and error without an instructor there to save us. Outside practice and lesson completion is key to growth. So let’s get to sketching! A little about me: For close to a decade I put my University of the Arts BFA in Animation degree to good use while teaching art and performance art in an Independent Private school for 3-year-olds to 8th graders. I transitioned to online art classes two years ago where I have taught 7 to 18 year old very reluctant artists to those who love everything art and everything in between. I have had several "my mom made me sign up" learners, with very little interest in art, grow in their artistic confidence and even submit artwork competitively. A few of my one on one students have achieved art awards in competitions as well as have excelled in other areas of the arts due to their confidence growing. Additionally, I am a working artist and have been an art director and illustrator for graphic novels. Parent/teacher communication is very important to me so please be sure to stay in close communication with me so we can create the best learning experience for your young artist.
