Class Experience
In this course, students will work with the instructor to develop their skill of singing! Wherever the student is in their skill, the teacher aims to meet them there at their individual level. The teacher will work to help the student build confidence, to learn warm ups to help the student be able to match pitch, sing low and high, and to be able to repeat simple patterns. As students progress the patterns and warm ups will get more complex and challenging. The teacher will teach solfegge (do, re, mi) as well as note names on the staff! We will be learning about ear training (aural skills) and theory. We will be working on technique and good rhythm. We will be working on a variety of activities that help students become wonderful musicians! The teacher strives to find songs for students with age appropriate lyrics, and to help the student have fun learning new songs! To begin with, students will not need any materials other than themselves. As students progress we may decide to utilize a book or other specific sheet music. Lessons will always be tailored to the student depending on what the teacher feels the student can benefit most from. However, here is an example of lessons: Week 1 Sept 9: introductions, introduce a few warm ups, learn simple song Week 2 Sept 16: warm ups, review song from previous week, start new song Week 3 Sept 23: warm ups, polish up the song from the 1st week adding in little details, review 2nd song Week 4 Sept 30: warm ups, run through 1st & 2nd song, start working on notes of a new piece.
