Class Experience

NOTE:
*As of today, there is no spot available for learners who would like to take a class weekly, but it may be possible that I can open a class for you, so please feel free to contact me if you are interested in my class!
(I live in the EST time zone, so I'm afraid that I may not be able to accept your schedule request due to our time difference)
I appreciate your understanding in advance.

*The class will be taught in Japanese, but I may use English depending on a learner's Japanese level and the situation.
(I speak English as a second language.)

*No class on Saturday evenings and Sundays (EST).

*Siblings(Friends) are welcome in the same class, and the fees will be discounted.

*Thankfully, I have many booked lessons in private.
(They seem not to be counted as "completed" lessons on the Outschool platform.)

*Although it's an online class, I'll make each lesson an in-person one. It means I'll do more analog and physical activities instead of using technology.

This class is for beginners and a private lesson designed for children who want to learn Japanese as a foreign language or/and have a Japanese background but no/fewer opportunities to learn the language.
Based on the method and textbook provided by AJLC: Association of Japanese Language for Children (国際こども日本語教育協会), I will use a direct teaching method (Speaking Japanese only) in a class. It will be a better way to learn a new language with the language like we gain our first language. Moreover, studying grammar is not often efficient, particularly for young children, to improve their language skills.
In each lesson, learners will be exposed to the Japanese language and culture through fun activities and will learn general words and phrases in a specific theme, such as greeting, counting and colours. The materials for lessons are mainly handmade, and [KUMAO] a puppet will guide a learner in their learning! The curriculum is based on the AJLC textbook (themes), and since this is a one-on-one lesson, the component of lessons will be more individually considered the learner's age and their level of Japanese.

Although it's a one-time class, it will continue (following the next unit) if a learner wants to take a class regularly (weekly). Also, the schedule will be negotiable.

2. Calendar and Weather
3. Monthly song

[Additional info]

*Each Term A~C takes approximately two months or more to complete (meeting once a week: 4 times a month)
*Approximately 31 lessons plus final performance to complete all units, including reviews. (Depending on a learner's age and understanding of a lesson, we will go over the same context for the lesson a couple of times before moving on to the next.)

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, everyone!
Thank you for reading my profile :)

My name is ERIKO, and I am happy to teach children Japanese as a native Japanese speaker on Outschool. Learning any other language sounds like hard work, but it's rewarding and leads you to a new world. Let's have fun learning Japanese together!

I have many years of teaching experience both in Japan and Canada. I worked as a kindergarten/international school teacher in Japan (aged 2~10), and in Canada, I worked in a kindergarten class at a Hoshuko(補習校). Additionally, I've worked as a registered Early Childhood Educator with preschool/kindergarten children in Canadian daycare settings most of the time. In the spring of 2021, I took a training program to teach children Japanese as a professional Japanese teacher, which gave me a certificate approved by AJLC (Association of Japanese Language for Children). My online teaching career has just started; however, I will share my knowledge and experience with children for fun and meaning!

((Qualifications))
Qualification in Child nursing, Kindergarten teacher License (Japan)
Early Childhood Education: Registered ECE (Canada)
College Postgraduate: Autism and Behavioural Science (Canada)

I believe that learning through interaction with others, especially in person, is one of the most significant elements for young children; however, I have been dedicating myself to making children happy in their learning through the Internet. Hope I can do it for your precious one too!

"Completed class"
*I've been having many lessons in private, and they seem not to be counted as "completed" classes.
*I also have classes besides Outschool.
