Class Experience

Learn drums with an experienced instructor who will teach you the technique you need while learning all of your favorite songs!
This class is for all levels from complete beginners to more advanced students! For a beginner, the first lessons will run as follows:

Week 1 (first lesson): Getting to know the student/favorite music, playing along with a basic beat to a favorite song
The instructor will get to know a few of the student's favorite songs either prior to the lesson or at the beginning of class. Students will learn a "Money Beat" or basic drum beat in order to play along with a song that they already enjoy, as it's important for them to be able to play along with their favorite music as soon as possible and get excited about playing!

Week 2: Rhythm practice with marching, clapping, and playing newly learned beats on the drum kit
The instructor will guide the student in marching along to the song, clapping and marching, and then transferring those motions to the drum kit. Students will learn more about setting up their drum kit, and basic technique such as how to count along with the song, and basic song form. This is dependent upon student level upon starting class. They will continue to work on playing along with a favorite song chosen by themselves and the instructor (based on appropriate tempo).

Week 3: More basic techniques, rudiments
Students will continue learning basic drum technique such as counting, clapping the beat and using some basic rudiments or stick patterns that they can use for fills when playing drum exercises and songs. The instructor will show students how to add more diverse patterns to their already learned basic rhythms.

Week 4:
Students will learn how to use techniques learned such as counting, basic song form and rudiments to play additional songs and drum exercises chosen between the student and the instructor.
