Class Experience

This is an on-going tutoring session that can meet for as little or as many weeks as your learner needs.  This individualized tutoring session can focus on exactly which topics your learner needs with their learning styles in mind - hands-on, kinesthetic, game based, etc.  My approach is gentle and supportive to help your learner feel successful.  I have 22 years of experience teaching all math levels from Kindergarten through Calculus.  I have taught in the public school and currently homeschool my children.  

Upon enrolling, you will receive a message asking what topics you would like covered in our first session and seeking any other relevant information about your learner.  If you have a specific assignment you would like covered, you can send that as well.

Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Messiah College

I have 22 years of teaching experience in a variety of educational settings including as a public high school math teacher, math tutor, and enrichment class teacher.  I am currently a home educator of my five children in addition to teaching on Outschool for the past 4 years.  Due to this diverse background, I have taught a wide range of math skills, from preschool math concepts through AP Calculus.  I have a broad understanding of the development of math skills.

My passion is to strengthen students' number sense so that they are comfortable working with numbers, not simply rote memorization, and can extend that knowledge to a variety of real-life applications. I love to incorporate games, visuals, and hands-on activities in my classroom.  A principal I strongly believe in is "All the students should do all the work all the time."  Children learn best when they are doing!  

When I am not teaching, I love to enjoy the outdoors, running, camping, and playing pickleball with my family.
