Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Due to this being a tutoring session, I will teach whatever concept the learner is struggling to understand. I am able to confidently cover the following math topics: measurement and data analysis, inequalities, solving problems using all operations and the PEMDAS, ratio and probability problems, place value, money skills, changing numbers into precents, fractions, and decimals, solving algebra equations, problem solving, time, and early geometry skills including angles, shapes, etc. I am able to cover any topics that are taught in elementary-7th grade. The tutoring sessions will be structured differently for each learner, depending on their learning style. For the first week, students will bring any problems they need help solving, and we will work through them together. If there is another technique they have not seen, I will show them a different way to solve a problem. We will do this until I have figured out the technique that works for them. For every session after the first, they can bring any concept they are not understanding, and we will work through it together. I will also bring additional problems that will require them to use skills I noticed they were lacking from prior tutor sessions. In a one-on-one tutoring situation, my teaching style depends on what would work best for that student. If a student learns better by watching, they will watch me solve problems. If a student learns better by taking notes, I will go as slow as needed for them to get the notes written down. If I know the topic ahead of time and find any outside resources that would help, I will share those. We will interact through showing our work to each other and asking and answering questions. My target audience are students who would benefit from one-on-one help with any math problems, grades 4-7.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Central Missouri
I have taught my twins and children in public schools a variety of math skills. I have taught in multiple states and am aware of the state standards that schools require in different grades. My expertise and bachelor's degree in education qualifies me to teach math skills in language arts grades K-6th. My background with homeschooling my twins, who are now doing 7th grade work, and other homeschool students has allowed me to practice math skills on a daily basis. I have been my girls' only math teacher since 2nd grade, when we pulled them out of public school and started homeschooling.
