Homework
1 hour per week. I will provide students with supplemental worksheets that can be completed after class that will help them with building their vocabulary, spelling skills, reading comprehension, grammar, and sentence making.Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 6
During our first session, learners can look forward to me getting to know them better. This entails me: 📝 Getting to know them in an academic sense (their learning style, what they’re struggling with, how they feel about learning, reading, writing, etc.) 🧒 Getting to know things like their hobbies, likes, dislikes, favorite things, etc. Building a bond with learners is one of my most important jobs as a teacher 😊 Next, the learner and I will work on the ELA skill(s) that they need to practice. To end class, the learner and I will talk about our “game plan” for their next tutoring sessions and what they can look forward to. During each session after the initial meeting, learners can look forward to a game and activity based class time. I believe the best way to practice academic skills is through play! 😁 Here is a breakdown on how a learner and I could practice their ELA skills: 📚Reading Comprehension - Two Truths & a False, Predict the Rest of the Story, Scramble Scramble: Sequencing the Story ✍️Writing - Silly Writing Prompts, MadLibs, Finish the Story 📑Grammar - Vocabulary Pictionary (nouns, adjectives, and verbs), I Spy (correct the grammar of each sentence), Who am I? (what grammar rule am I) 🔠Spelling - Unscramble the Word, Decode the Compound Word, Bingo This class will ultimately help students to feel more confident in themselves as they practice different skills in many different ways on a weekly basis! The best kind of practice is more practice 🤓 📌Prior to my first session with new learners I will send a message to parents asking if they have any specific requests for what the learner and I should work on. This will determine what I will structure the class around.📌 If you don’t see a time/day that works for you and your learner please don’t hesitate to reach out so that I may accommodate you 😁
