Homework
2-4 hours per week. Pages from the books will be assigned either in class or afterwards on the classroom page. I expect that the student practices a minimum of two hours a week, so that they are ready to play their homework assignments at the next lesson and feel comfortable doing so.Class Experience
Welcome to my course: 45 Minute Private Piano Lessons for Level 1 & Up. In this course I will offer a private lesson meeting your child at their current Piano Playing level. This course is a thorough overview of how to play the piano and read music. Students will become proficient performers as well as skilled musicians understanding music theory and terminology.. Through the various books that we choose, your student will learn songs appropriate for their skill level, as well as theory and technique or sight reading. We can also add Classical songs. The class will be structured to go through the book in order of the lessons given and the student will be able to start wherever they've left off previously. My teaching style is very interactive and fun. This will be just an instruction and playing class only with no games. In this class, all students who have completed a primer level book are welcome. We will cover proper sitting and hand positions, phrasing, dynamics and their importance, rhythmic awareness, different time signatures and that one song can have several time signatures, basic music symbols, aural awareness, flexibility of fingers in different note patterns, and how to effectively practice more difficult pieces.
Learning Goals
Your student will grow at a pace that will be readily seen by you, even if you're not a musician. Practicing faithfully will make the difference.
