Homework
1-2 hours per week. Each week I will assign practice homework that is optimized to help your student succeed. The amount of time per practice session will differ based on the student.Class Experience
My private lessons are individualized based on each student's skill level. If your student has never played the saxophone before, our top priority will be to learn how to shape the mouth around the mouthpiece. From there, we will learn about controlling the air that goes from our lungs into the saxophone, and then we will learn how to articulate notes with our tongue. Once your student is producing a quality tone, we will move on to practicing simple exercises, learning musical notation, and rhythm counting. From there, we can work on any of the following: - developing fast fingers - developing a fast tongue - play more difficult music - play more scales - get better at being in tune - prepare for an audition My teaching style is relaxed with high expectations. I love helping students succeed, and I love to see students want to succeed. If your student is dedicated to practicing to get better, then these lessons will be very helpful to them! I will never be angry at a student for not practicing, but I do emphasize that the more practicing you do, the better that you will be.
