Students writing will be assessed informally and students will be given feedback after each class.Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 6
Each class will have the following elements: five minutes for arrival and conversation; a mini-lesson; time to write and time to share writing. Students will learn to write various types of writing such as stories, poetry, newswriting, blogging and flash fiction. Students will learn about such skills as creating characters, writing dialogue, using imagery and getting readers attention with a hook. Week 1: October 16th - Writing about Yourself (Write about what would happen if you were invisible for a day and similar topics) Week 2: October 23rd - Creating Characters (Students create a biography and backstory for their character) Week 3: October 30th - Bringing Characters to Life (Students write a story starring their character) Week 4: November 6th - Drawing a Setting (Students create a map of a setting and write about it)

Students will learn to create a story while increasing their writing skills.
