Description
Class Experience
This goal of this class is to continue to build student's confidence in their efforts and to improve academic writing scores in all of the six traits of writing: ideas, voice, organization, sentence fluency, conventions (capitalization and punctuation), and word choice.
I have taught middle and high school English Language Arts for a decade.
Students do no need to work on writing outside of class. I would like for students to think of their ideas in their mind and come to class ready to revise.
A composition notebook, pencil, and erasers can all be found at the dollar store.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students receive verbal individual feedback regarding performance at all stages of the writing process.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents will need to remind students that the teacher will not allow very scary, bloody, or gore type images in their writing. I do not allow that type of writing in my class. The idea of suspense may be more appropriate for more mature students. Students who are sensitive to any kind of suspense of mild spookiness may do better in my 24 Crayons: Free Write class where we never talk about suspense or spooky things.
