Oil Pastels and Art History: Make Your Own Version of Van Gogh's Starry Night
In this one time class we will learn some fun facts about Vincent Van Gogh, and then proceed to make our own version of the much loved Starry Night.

In this one hour and thirty minute class, we will learn about Vincent van Gogh, his art and process. Then we will draw our own versions of the Starry Night using oil pastels. Throughout the class I will be drawing and the children will follow along. Many of my classes are open ended, and the kids have room for improvisation. They will be able to create their own Starry Night, not just copy van Gogh's painting, and not just copy mine. The focus is always split between making sure the process...
The students will have a chance to practice their problem solving abilities. Together, we will identify where they are having difficulties and come up with solutions in order to resolve them.
The learners will need the following supplies for the class: * mixed media paper (about 100 lbs), Canson Mixed Media Pad is a good choice. * oil pastels * wooden skewer or toothpicks.

1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please make sure the learner has oil pastels, and not chalk pastels. I use Google Slides for a brief presentation about Paul Cezanne via screen share.
