Don't take this class if you get grossed out easily. We will study all the ways that people have used poop in medicine throughout history. Would you want to eat camel poop to get better when you are really sick? Is it a good idea? Did you know that doctors and scientists are still using poop as medicine? We will learn the answers these questions in class as well as many more. Learning about the history of poop and medicine is a great way to learn about history, geography, and biology. Students will learn about why sometimes poop has been used to cure disease and how it has caused people to become sicker. At the end of class, students will have a chance to create their own Medieval recipe for curing a disease.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about history and geography while learning about the history of poop in medicine. They will also learn about biology to understand why poop sometimes works and sometimes causes harm when used in medicine.
