Description
Class Experience
The goal of this class is for beginning students to learn basic greetings, to express what they like using the verb, "aimer," alongside gaining vocabulary related to their interests in areas such as sports, animals and hobbies. I believe we remember more easily what we experience, so they will have intermittent contextual snapshots of French culture as they listen, repeat, interact and see slides/visuals. Students will also learn more about the culture behind French through a French fact of the day, a Parisian style tip, and learning about a famous person from France!
While I have my B.A. in Foreign Languages/Liberal Studies and studied abroad, my immersion experience as a teenager in France made a beautiful permanent imprint on me for the rest of my life. It will be amazing to give that delight to other youth, that they can experience this same sweetness throughout their lives through French and learning more about the francophone world. Also, I just love youth and I love the French language! My background in France, Quebec and in teaching and coaching children allows me to bring a sort of contagious energy where students will ignite their natural curiosity, which is the perfect kindling to take hold of a new language!
Students will have a PDF of French class material for review.
Students are free to take notes, but do not have a required supply list. Learners will receive a PDF for convenient review and memorization.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
While there will be no grades allocated, there will be instructor-student check-points as we go through the lesson for student questions to ensure understanding.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
