Class Experience

In this one time story and "cooking" class, the students will create an edible Christmas tree and get into the holiday spirit.  Class will begin with a story called The Golden Christmas Tree by Jan Wahl.  We will discuss the events of the story as it is read.  The students will follow step by step instructions to "frost" their tree trying out different swirls and twirls.  They will then decorate their tree with a variety of candies. ~Students will use listening skills while having a story read to them
~Student will use language skills when retelling the sequence of the story and using first, next, then, and last.
~Students will use creative skills when frosting and decorating their trees. 
~Students will use social skills to interact with other students.

~Sugar ice cream cone (the pointy kind)
~Green frosting
~Some candy (for decorating) suggestions are:   M & M's, licorice, cookie sprinkles, gum drops, cinnamon candies, chocolate chips, raisins, Skittles
~A plastic knife
~A plate
~A paper towel

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
