This class will follow Homer's sequel to the Trojan War as Odysseus struggles for ten years to return home. We will follow the journeys of his wife Penelope and son Telemachus before we turn to Odysseus' seafaring adventures. Odysseus' cunning is on full display as he faces monsters like the Cyclops, Skylla, and Calypso. After arriving on his home island of Ithaca, Odysseus must face suitors who want to take both his wife and his throne.

I have been tutoring both Greek and Latin for the last six years, having taught Latin in school for the last two. I am currently teaching a high school literature class that enables students to earn college credit. I can offer insights into the Greek of The Odyssey from the Homeric dialect.
