Description
Class Experience
How do surfers catch waves? What types of waves make for a great surf ride? Answering these questions will guide our class activities and discussion. This class is part of a series on waves which includes Ocean Waves: Structure and Formation. Learners will engage with content though a combination of multi-media presentation, teacher demonstration and whole-class discussion. During class we will define hydro-static force, buoyancy, torque and gravity. Learners will be lead through...
Upon completion of this class students will be able to: -identify types of wave breaks and how they apply to the sport of surfing. -predict what beaches may produce good surfing conditions. -explain the types of forces involved in catching and riding waves.
It's my passion to create unique, engaging learning experiences. I strive to create learner-centered, integrated lessons that relate content to student lives. I believe that my educational background in the field of marine science, professional teaching degree and extensive experiencing developing/delivering educational programs for all ages, will generate a class experience that fosters learners' appreciation for our oceans and environment.
