Description

Class Experience

Learners will be introduced to ecological principles like food chains and ecosystems, and will learn about some of the ocean’s top predators. This marine biology camp teaches about animal adaptations, anatomy, hunting behaviors, and highlights animals such as sharks, orcas, polar bears, and more! 
Dr. Heather Blackall holds a PhD in Biochemistry, as well as advanced degrees in pharmaceutical sciences, and veterinary medicine with an emphasis on forensic toxicology. She is nationally certified as a toxicological chemist, and possesses multiple state licenses in clinical chemistry. She currently serves as an environmental writer and wildlife conservation consultant for a variety of global entities. She is also the founder of Ocean's Daughter Conservation Alliance.

She has traveled globally to promote wildlife conservation endeavors, and possesses experience working in the field on a variety of wildlife research endeavors. She is a published children's book author and has experience teaching internationally.
STEAM activities will be posted in the classroom page. Students will be expected to complete them prior to the next session. 
A packet will be provided by the teacher. 
Learners are assessed informally, but will be required to present and share their activities with the class. This ensures participation and promotes public speaking as well as socialization. 
3 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
