What are the abiotic factors affecting the deep ocean environment? How is life adapted to existing there? How is research conducted to explore deep ocean waters? These questions will help to guide a class exploration of a 360 virtual expedition to the bottom of the ocean. Learners will work together as a simulated expedition team to complete research mission tasks. Class time will consist of 3-6 team members, each with an assigned role within the research team. Upon completion of this class learners will be able to: -identify abiotic factors affecting deep ocean ecosystems. -identify adaptations marine life have to manage these abiotic factors. -explain the importance of exploring deep ocean ecosystems. -describe tools used to conduct research of the deep sea.
Learner's achievement will be informally assessed through class participation and discussion.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
