During this one-time class, “Ocean Adventure,” learners will “dive” underwater and explore the ocean, learning about clownfish, blue tangs, sea turtles, sharks, and pufferfish. We will discuss what they eat, how they survive, and practice skills like recognizing colors and shapes, and distinguishing sizes, while coloring and practicing tracing and beginning writing skills. This class is structured as a presentation of colorful slides with facts, images, and video clips. A two-page worksheet will be provided with activities that learners will complete during class, and additional coloring and writing practice for after class! Additionally, we will sing a version of "The More We Get Together." While no previous experience is necessary, learners should be familiar with coloring or holding crayons/colored pencils. Each learner will also receive a personalized certificate of completion after class! Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Parents/Guardians and Learners!
My teaching style has a strong focus on fun! The classes I create and teach are focused on getting kids moving and having fun, keeping students engaged while learning about animals, colors, shapes, numbers, and more. My goal is to inspire and foster a lifelong passion for learning. I encourage students to share out loud so they can build confidence so they can find their voice and learn how to use it respectfully.
Three words I would use to describe my teaching style are enthusiasm, empathy, and patience. My teaching style is rooted in the belief that students learn best when they're having fun and learning naturally. The classes I create incorporate colorful presentations, fun activities, and music. My goal is to keep kids engaged while learning! I love teaching about music, history, animals, science, art, and writing.
For around 10 years, I have been teaching and tutoring individually, in small groups, and in the classroom. I have taught pre-k through fifth grade, including general music, children’s choir, and flute, as well as test-prep, reading/literacy, math, art and science! I also have experience working with students who are neurodivergent. While every leaner is welcome in my group classroom, if your learner is interested in one of my classes, and believe they will benefit from a more personalized experienced, please feel free to send me a message to arrange a one-on-one section of any of my classes!
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance in addition to studying piano, have completed graduate work with a focus on the flute and historical musicology, and am currently working on a master's degree in education. I have extensive research and writing experience. Additionally, I work as a Veterinary Assistant, and have owned guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, fish, cats, and dogs!
My classes offer a fun and safe environment for students to learn and grow and build confidence in themselves and their knowledge. And with a twist on the words of the great Yoda, my philosophy is “There is no try, only do, or do better.”
