Welcome to OC Drawing Club! In this Ongoing course, learners will be able to introduce their own original characters and their stories to a group of fellow character designers, while improving our techniques for drawing them and developing their character design. Learners will be invited to chat and socialize with each other as we draw. This is a social drawing class for story and character creators! Each week, learners will be given a prompt, tailored to the learners interests. Possible drawing prompts include anatomy studies, clothing studies, color studies, and more. We will also have fun 'character design challenge' classes! NOTE: This class is LARGELY centered around art sharing; the group loves having the opportunity to share their latest art and creations, so as we draw the prompt, we go around the room and share our drawings and characters! WEEKLY DRAWING PROMPT EXAMPLES: - Clothing folds - Hand practice - Mood Board design challenge - Make your own MLP character - Anatomy Study - Limited color palette challenge - Expressions - Eye styles - Drawing muscles - OC memes (ex. Draw your character as a Pokemon) - Character Pose Studies Anyone who has their own OC---from human, humanoid, creature, cat, wolf, or mouse...ALL unique original characters are welcome! I can't wait to meet you and your characters!

Paper, pencil, and ink pen. Students who would like to use a digital art tablet are also welcome.

Hello! My name is Michelina Leonard, but I go by Ms. Mickey in my classes!
I'm a digital illustrator and designer, known best for my love of animals and how they inspire my work. Raised in Pennsylvania, I live in the country with my menagerie of parrots, goats, chickens, and cats. I have a college education in digital art and have professional work experience in the field, including graphic/logo design, children's book illustration, novel cover design, studio painting, 2D animation, and more.
My most popular classes are my Warrior Cat's Clubs, where learners get to enjoy connecting with other fans of the book series, learning art techniques, sharing their creative work, and role-playing with their 'clan'. I teach traditional basic drawing techniques, along with digital art and animation. Most importantly, though, students get to share their characters and showcase their artwork!
Drawing "battle cats" isn't my only topic of interest, though! I also have a Dragon Drawing Club (for Wings of Fire fans), an Original Character Club, where we draw and discuss ALL types of OCs!
I like to keep my classes social and interactive! I structure my classes in a way that fosters a community within the group, and I am driven to ensure that every student feels valued and welcomed in the classroom. My favorite part is that learners get to connect and inspire each other to improve, rather than just listening to me give a weekly lecture. The artwork skill improvement that I've seen in many of my students within this group enviroment has been astronomical and a joy to witness!
