Class Experience

In this one-time class, students will draw a stylized Christmas while sharing what they are asking for Christmas this year. We will be drawing our trees with oil pastel or crayon, creating patterns within the tree, and water coloring them in.
We will begin the class by drawing the tree, which I will be demonstrating in real-time. We will then create patterns within different sections of the tree. While we students finish patterning in their trees, students will have the opportunity to share how they are celebrating Christmas this year and what they hope to give and receive. Then we will watercolor our trees. Lastly, we will share our festive creations!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ms. Elizabeth and I have been passionate about art since I could finger paint. My classes will be focused on the expressive power of art. We will address creativity, enjoyment of the process, and feeling good about the pieces we create. I received my Bachelor of Fine Art in painting and drawing from Louisiana State University in 2018, and am working toward a graduate degree in art therapy. I previously taught art to elementary age students and worked with hospital patients and their families on expressive art projects. My philosophy of art focuses more on the process rather than the product, but I will be going over the fundamental properties of art in some upper level classes so that my students will have a foundation upon which to build their own creations. The two forms of art I practice most often are painting and collage. I am always trying to find new ways to look at things, ways way to combine art forms, and new art forms to learn! I live and breathe art, and I can't wait to share my passion!
