Description

Class Experience

Students will learn how to safely warm up for dance, the fundamentals of salsa technique, a fun and energetic Salsa choreography, the basic history of Salsa dance, as well as develop physical coordination.
My knowledge of Salsa dance comes from having studied and danced with the best Salseros (salsa dancers) in NYC. I'm passionate about sharing NY Salsa with people across the world!
I will provide short articles about Salsa dance history and culture, as well as video links to performances by historical Salsa dance icons, such as Eddie Torres, that students can read/watch in between classes to develop their understanding of Salsa movement quality and expose them to the professional salsa world. The focus of the class is on the physical execution of Salsa, so these will be brief, but are important to the students' understanding of Salsa overall. In class we will hold a short discussion on the homework, going over the main historical points or discussing the students' observations of the dance videos in relation to what they have learned in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
