In this fun and engaging class for preschoolers, we will use games and interactive activities to develop the appropriate knowledge surrounding our 4 food groups. Students will learn to classify foods into the appropriate food groups and learn all about how food helps our brains and bodies to grow. Students will interact with the teacher and each other through games and activities. Students will develop an understanding and improve their knowledge of the 4 food groups. Upon completion of this class students will be able to classify various foods into their appropriate food group as well as having gained knowledge regarding the health benefits associated with each food group.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology, honors specialization in fitness and exercise prescription. Additionally, I have had significant experience studying as well as teaching nutrition and fitness to children of all ages as a traditional and non-traditional educator.
- Paper - Something to write/draw with (crayon, marker, pencil -- does not matter!)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment of students abilities and understanding throughout class. Students will be assessed through verbal responses and interactions with the teacher in order to guide the class and determine level of understanding. In providing information assessments myself as the teacher will be able to better facilitate effective programming for each child.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
