Beginner Level
In this 4 week class, students will review and practice ballet technique from Nutcracker Moves: A Ballet Wonderland, then they will use their knowledge of the famous Nutcracker Ballet in order to choreograph their own solos and present it on the day of class. Students are expected to practice their solos outside of class.
Learning Goals

Syllabus
4 Lessons
over 4 WeeksLesson 1:
Nutcracker & Ballet Review
Class begins with a review of ballet technique, choreography from Nutcracker Moves: A Ballet Wonderland, and review of the Nutcracker.

Lesson 2:
Nutcracker Pathways
Class begins with ballet warm up, followed by choreography review, introduction of choreographic element of pathways, and viewing one scene from The Nutcracker.

Lesson 3:
Nutcracker Composition
Students will identify and decide which moves they would like to add into their solos. Then they will practice at home.

Lesson 4:
Nutcracker Solo Presentations
Class will begin with a ballet warm up, then students will present their solo dances in the pathway selected.

Parental Guidance
Please be sure to have dancing space clear of large objects for your child's safety. Also, please be sure the floor is swept clean/or carpet vacuumed clean.
Pre-Requisites
This class will be most beneficial after you took "Nutcracker Moves: A Ballet Wonderland"

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am a licensed New York City Public Middle School Dance Educator, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Hunter College and a Master of Science Degree in Dance Education from NYU. I love to perform and choreograph. I also love helping my students choreograph.
