US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this Winter Dance Camp, we will develop and practice proper Ballet technique and learn a beautiful dance to, "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," from the famous ballet, The Nutcracker! Class will be structured into three sections: 1. We will always begin each class with structured share time so students have the opportunity to meet one another and make friends. 2. Next, it's time to dance. We will practice proper Ballet technique and skills standing next to a Ballet barre, focusing on steps that will help us in our Nutcracker dance. 3. After barre, we will take a moment for stretches and then work on learning the steps to the Ballet dance. By our last class, we will have a full-length dance that we will get to show off to family and friends via a class performance! ***Please have a sturdy object to use as a ballet barre such as a chair or stool. DANCE CAMP SCHEDULE: Class 1: Review of the positions of the feet, plié, tendu, passé, and arabesque. The beginning and middle of the dance will be taught with emphasis on proper technique. Class 2: Review of previous steps taught as well as rond de jambe a terre and balancé step in centre. Choreography will be added to the middle of the dance with emphasis on memorization and coordination. Class 3: Performance Day! We will begin with a warm-up at our barre, followed by reviewing the entire dance and learning the very ending. The last 10 minutes of class will be our final performance! Students are welcome to dress up this day for the final performance. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This class is taught at a level that is appropriate for both beginner and intermediate students. All movement will be broken down step by step so every student can be set up for success and have fun together! Since Ballet is a physical activity, it is recommended there be adult supervision throughout class as there is always a level of risk associated with any physical activity. Please have a space cleared of clutter (minimum 4X4 ft square) so your learner can move about freely and safely, as well as a sturdy object to use as a Ballet barre. Since there is a class performance, please note that class recordings will not be available due to student privacy. This will be a memorized dance, so students are of course welcome to perform it at home where you always have the option of filming it on your own time :-) *I lead my classes with kindness, structure, and encourage students to reach their full potential. Please don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions! ~Miss Marin

Parental Guidance
Since Ballet is a physical activity, it is recommended there be adult supervision throughout class as there is always a level of risk and injury that can occur with any physical activity. Please have a space cleared of debris and clutter (minimum 4X4 ft square) so your learner can move about freely and safely, as well as a sturdy object to use as a ballet barre. Having a water bottle or water near is important in case your learner gets thirsty during class (we will take a short designated water break during class). Safety is my #1 priority as a teacher, so let's make sure your learner is in a safe environment so we can have fun dancing together!
