Nursery rhymes are important for young children because they help develop an ear for patterns in our language. Both rhyme and rhythm help kids hear the sounds and syllables in words, which helps kids learn to read! In addition, nursery rhymes can help young learners begin to sequence events in a story. Each week, I'll be using the flannel board, props and text to teach children a new nursery rhyme. We'll focus on vocabulary, rhyme, and rhythm using songs, movement and games. The nursery...
Students will learn to recite nursery rhymes, identify rhyming words, and increase vocabulary. They’ll also learn to sequence events in nursery rhymes.
Homework is completely optional, but practicing the rhymes we learn each week will help children to remember them! I will provide parents with words to each rhyme.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
