Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 3
In this class students will be introduced to identifying numbers in three forms: standard form, word form, and expanded form. They'll practice changing between these forms. We will focus on reading numbers correctly to write them in word form as well as expanding numbers for expanded form, which is a skill that will be used in more advanced mathematics with place value, addition, multiplication, and higher operations. Depending on student ages and ability, this class may cover numbers up to four digits but may also extend to numbers up to six digits and beyond. This class is ideal for second to third grade students but can be scaffolded up for older students in need of review or support.

I'm an accountant with a teaching background who enjoys learning and strives to foster a love of learning in students through games and interactive learning. I believe students learn best when they are having fun and interacting with the material.

I have always had a passion for learning and have diverse interests. I'm especially passionate about building strong foundations in language and math. I believe confidence in these two areas will give students the tools to learn almost anything they'd like to in life.

As an accountant, I have expertise in mathematics and finance. I'm an Enrolled Agent and believe everyone should be proficient in budgeting and personal finance. I believe a strong foundation in math is important to develop advanced skills with numbers later in life. Likewise, strong grammar and language skills will help students communicate effectively and give them the tools to learn anything they'd like to. I'm also passionate about culture and language and have formally studied nine languages, including studying abroad. I want to share the world with students through language and exploration.

I hope to share my love of learning with each of my students as they explore their personal interests. In doing so, students will become lifelong learners and continue to grow in and out of the classroom.
