Students will be assessed based on speaking and participation is highly recommended.Class Experience
We will learn the numbers in Spanish from 1-20, proper pronunciation + have multiple inputs for remembering/applying. We will also read an ebook (Un carro, dos carros by Diana Di Tolla) that students can purchase on iTunes to continue their practice (self-paced). We will start class with a greeting, meet everyone, and start learning numbers! My teaching style is very communicative (officially called comprehensible input in the language acquisition world) and I strongly encourage participation. 99% of class will be working/speaking directly with instructor and other students and using Spanish. A maximum of 5 learners in the class to maximize student learning! Learners are NOT required to know any Spanish and will be able to follow along easily. Teacher Diana loves to teach and has many years experience teaching Spanish!
Learning Goals
Students will learn to pronounce words properly in the target language.
Students will speak in the target language in class, which will reinforce the retention of the information (numbers + pronunciations).
Students will have fun learning something new and will learn to navigate a dynamic classroom in another language other than their own.

Teacher expertise and credentials
<I am taking a hiatus until January 2025> ~ Profesora D
Hola - I am a National Board Certified Teacher of Spanish language and culture, from the novice levels to advanced of Spanish language learners, including heritage speakers in Washington state. I am a public school teacher for 20+ years, have tried and true methods for language learning, and love to share my passion for this beautiful language with young people. As well as my National Board Certification (until 2031), I have a Master's in Teaching, a Bachelor's of Arts in Spanish, a Bachelor's of Science in Botany, College Board certified to teach AP Spanish Language & Culture, and TEFL certified (Teaching English As A Foreign Language.)
I have loved Spanish since I first heard it at 5 years old and have spent my life immersed in this amazing culture and language. I value hard work more than perfect pronunciation as that will help my students more in life and I know from first hand experience that everyone can learn. My classes are fun, interactive, conversational, and academic (although I slip this in and students are having so much fun that they forget they are in class). I have also created a few classes in Udemy.com that focus on Spanish grammar. In addition, I spend my time with my family and friends, cooking, going on walks, camping, biking, reading, and, of course, watching movies. I can't wait to meet you in our virtual classroom!
