This class will work much like an book club where students will be asked to read the book, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, during the week, and spend time discussing the book in class. It is important that the students read the book in order to correctly partake in the discussions. Additional background will be given to explain the events surrounding the book, such as WW2 history, relocation and concentration camps, and some Jewish culture. Homework will consist of a reading assignments...
As a lover of reading and writing, and one who enjoys studying the events of WW2 as they relate specifically to the Jewish people, I find this to be a book that I am able to help students understand, both in context and culture.
Each student will need a copy of the book, Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
