US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
In this class , students will receive explicit instruction and explore math concepts. The students will actively participate during class and verbalize their thinking process. The goal is for students to learn new math concepts and also review skills learned in kindergarten.
One math concept the students will learn about is subitizing. We will learn how to look at objects but not actually count them but know how many. This skill is important for early math and will help...1. Students will understand number sense. 2. Students will actively make number bonds. 3. Students will see parts in numbers. 4. Students will quickly recognize number patterns. 5. Students will learn addition and subtraction.
I have taught Singapore Math in my classroom for fifteen years. I have attended workshops in my district on subitizing and number bonds and have received training in these areas.
