This hands-on, self-paced 8 lesson class is geared towards students aged 6-8 and provides support for foundational arithmetic skills. These foundational skills include: counting by ten beginning with any number, place value to the hundreds place, greater than, less than symbols, determining even or odd numbers, rounding to the nearest ten, adding to make ten, addition strategies, and using the commutative property of addition. Printable math manipulatives are provided. These are used in the lessons, so that the child can follow along. Additional practice is provided in the form of downloadable homework practice pages. Printable skill review games are also included. Video lessons are provided with printable activities included. Students can go at their own pace and can share their homework with me to be scored within the duration of the class, if requested. I love helping students grow as learners and supporting their understanding along the way. As an educator with over twenty years of experience, I enjoy helping students grow and challenge themselves!
Learning Goals
Students will learn to count by ten beginning with any number, learn how to use expanded form, correctly use greater than and less than symbols, determine even numbers, round to the nearest ten, and practice the commutative property of addition.

Counting by Ten
We begin by practicing counting by tens using a hundreds chart. You will practice counting by ten starting with numbers in the tens column. Then we branch out to begin counting by ten starting with many different numbers.

Lesson 2:
Place Value
Using place value charts and place value blocks, we practice with the ones, tens, and hundreds place. You will also learn about and use expanded form to indicate numbers.

Lesson 3:
Inequalities
This time, we create and use inequality tools that look like hungry alligators to compare numbers. You will practice using the symbols for greater than, less than, and equal to to compare numbers.

Lesson 4:
Even or Odd?
We find even numbers by counting by twos. Then, we also practice pairing up counters to check to see if numbers are even or odd.
