*During this class, students will use their knowledge of math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and exponents) in order to complete in a timed game against themselves! Students will have a good understanding of game rules and strategies before play begins. There will be ample time to practice their skills before the competition begins. Students will only be in competition with themselves in order to consistently improve their own skills no matter their current level! You will find a game board included below. I suggest inserting it in a page protector and using dry erase markers so it can be used for multiple rounds of the game. Students will also need something separate to write with and write on (paper and pencil is fine). No calculators, please! *Due to the nature of this class, it is very important that we have at least 3 learners enrolled. I often get learners signing up at the last minute, so I will wait as long as possible before canceling and refunding money. *This is an introductory class. This game takes practice to master. I hope students will come back for another class to sharpen their skills and grow their mental math skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Paige Gossett. I live in West Virginia with my husband, three children, and two dogs. I have always enjoyed teaching and like to make learning fun for students through games, songs, and interesting content. My energetic, patient, and encouraging personality will allow your students to feel at home in my classroom!
I have a degree in Elementary Education. I have over eleven years of teaching experience in many types of classrooms. I have experience as a substitute teacher, lead Preschool teacher, homeschool teacher, tutor, online ESL teacher, and more. I am excited to bring that experience to students through an online classroom!
On Outschool, I will offer a variety of classes geared toward elementary aged students. My favorite topics to teach are math, English grammar, creative writing, and science. In my free time I love reading, crocheting, and baking cupcakes so watch for classes on those topics as well!
In my classes, you can expect your students to participate in class through questions and discussions of the class material. I understand students have different personalities, however, so I will not force any student to participate who is not comfortable sharing with others.
I am excited to share my class with you soon!
~Ms. Paige
**My schedule is somewhat flexible so please feel free to request days and times if you see a class you like.

**CLASS POLICIES***
1 - CLASS TIMES: All class times are approximate. Class time may vary depending on the understanding of students and class size. Classes are designed to be completed in the posted time, but may go over or under by a few minutes.
2 - CLASS SIZE: Many classes depend on student interaction and therefore class size minimums must be met. If minimums are not met, I will contact the parent with the option of transferring to a new class or receiving a refund.
3 - ABSENT STUDENTS: Classes will begin at their scheduled time, even if all students are not in the classroom. I will contact absent students after class to transfer them to another class. If there are no learners in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting the classroom. In this situation, I will contact parents after I have left the classroom to transfer students to a new class.
4 - CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS: Students will be muted during instruction times to avoid any distracting background noise that may disturb other students. Students will be unmuted as necessary to promote discussions and conversations within the class context. Parents and siblings are welcomed to watch the class but if siblings are going to participate, each sibling must be enrolled in the lesson individually.
