In this engaging novel study, learners will read and discuss the inspiring novel The One and Only Bob by Katherine Applegate. Reading aloud is a way for students to sharpen their skills and share their ideas. Students will have the opportunity to engage with others by responding to questions that I ask and the other learners. We will consider the book's literary elements, such as the characters, setting, and plot. Bob sets out on a dangerous journey in search of his long-lost sister with the help of his two best friends, Ivan and Ruby. As a hurricane approaches and time is running out, Bob finds courage he never knew he had and learns the true meaning of friendship and family. Please feel free to request a time if you do not see a time that is convenient for you!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Georgia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
As a licensed teacher for over 30 years, I have had the opportunity to support and engage students with diverse learning needs. I strive to create a positive classroom environment that is both supportive and engaging, where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and participating in discussions. My goal is to help each student develop a lifelong love for reading while achieving their academic goals.
My passion is literature. I believe stories make concepts more palpable to children. Stories teach students valuable lessons, empathy, and to see the world from different perspectives.
When I have time, I like to travel, experience different cultures, and learn the history of people and places. I am also an animal lover! I have two dogs, have worked with animal rescues, and fostered cats and dogs for years.
"There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world, and the love of books is the best of all." ~ Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
