In this 8 week class, students will read The Lightning Thief; the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. We will discuss the themes found in the book and our thoughts.
Class experience
US Grade 3 - 6
This is a 8 week class where the students will read through chapters of The Lightning Thief each week. Each class we will be discussing the chapters we read, going over vocabulary for the chapters and answering discussion questions. Every student will need a copy of The Lightning Thief: Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan and each week they will need to read the chapters before the next class. Students will learn to establish their own thoughts while reading a book and sharing them with others. We will be looking at new vocabulary for each of the chapters and discussing what we think about what has happened, is happening and will happen as we move through the book.
Homework Offered
Each week students will be asked to read a set of chapters for the next class.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Each student will need a copy of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
The Lightning Thief does deal with magic and Greek Mythology. There are also many monster fights and mentions of the gods and goddesses being the Demi-gods parents (half god/half human). We will be talking about Greek Mythology as it pertains to the book and not promote one belief over another.
