I am currently a reading teacher. I have also studies and graduated with a Master Degree in African American Studies. I have closely studied racism and the Civil Rights Movement.
There will be no homework, however, everyone is expected to read the book in order to have a successful book discussion. I would recommend to read at least 30 minutes every day to complete the books.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
All books are age appropriate. These book does touch a bit on racism and the Civil Rights movement. Please note that if your student is to take this course that we will discuss the characters feelings towards racism and the impact that it has on the storyline.
