This book is definitely darker than the last three books in the series. The book starts out with being introduced to a house where Peter is staying with a broken Voldemort. They kill a muggle who was the caretaker of the house. Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ron's family end the summer with the Quidditch World cup. It should be a joyous event but it turns into a nightmare as Death Eaters attack and they send the Dark Mark (Voldemort's sign) up into the sky. Back at school the students are excited about the Triwizard Tournament, a competition between three wizard schools. Someone tricks the Goblet of Fire into accepting Harry into the tournament even though he is too young. Harry has to quickly figure out how he is going to live through the different events. He has to fight a dragon, stay under water for an hour, and work through a maze. At the end of the maze Harry and another champion were transported to a graveyard where they find Peter and Voldemort. The other champain was killed and Voldemort uses a potion to rebuild his body. Harry has to fight Voldemort and he sees a memory of his parents that helps him. Harry gets away and is able to take the champains body back to Hogwarts. Everyone mourns their death and Harry learns who the deceiver has been all year.
At the end of the book Dumbledore is calling the international wizarding community to stand together against the dark side. A large-scale battle is sure to come.
The students are starting to have crushes on each other and they have to find dates to a Christmas ball.

Hi I am Teacher Kaylyn and I have been working with children in many different ways for over 15 years in many different ways. Most recently I have taught online for online since 2019, teaching ESL and here on Outschool. I have a 6 year old son and I am used to high energy fun. I love to make learning fun and I want to share my interests with others. Since I do have a young son I love to teach young students. It is great when they figure something out and you can see something click. I love to read and I really like to do book studies to share that love with others. I have learned that to start a passion for reading you need to find the right books that you can't put down. I want to help others to their own books they are passionate about. I love to make candies and my family loves it when I do also; they get all the samples. I hope to see you in class soon!
