In this course, young witches and wizards will read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (book 4 in the series). Every lesson will have a discussion component, a writing component, and activities. Skills covered in this class: Reading comprehension Critical thinking Vocabulary building Making connections to current events and personal experiences Supporting statements with facts
I am a real Harry Potter fan. I even attend the Harry Potter convention every year, including last year in Dublin Ireland. I started reading Harry Potter with my daughter when the series first came out. She is now 32 and we have passed the love of all things magical to my granddaughters as well. I combine my skills and a reading specialist, English teacher, and ESL instructor with my knowledge and love of Harry Potter to create an educational experience that is quite unique for my students.
*** Students are required to have read books 1-3. Watching the movies will not be enough. *** Students should be prepared for reading 4-5 chapters per week, writing a summary of those chapters *** Students AND parents who have read books 1-3 with Professor Oyo should understand that book 4 jumps up in reading level and the content is more mature.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
