Class Experience

Students will read The Phantom Tollbooth and increase their understanding of the story through a variety of discussions and activities including vocabulary, cause and effect, reading comprehension, and more.
Before week 1, students will have a brief writing/drawing assignment to complete prior to the first class.

Prior to class weeks 2 through 11, students will need to read two chapters from the story to prepare for our discussion. There will also be a short worksheet packet students will need to complete each week, and we’ll review the answers in class. These packets will include activities like vocabulary, cause and effect, character maps, letter-writing, and more. Not every type of activity will be included in each week’s packet, they will vary week-to-week.

Before week 12, there will be no assignments to complete before class, but students should take some time to reflect on their opinions of the story.
-A copy of The Phantom Tollbooth -Homework packets, which will be posted in the classroom each week
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
