We will explore the fundamentals of good note-taking including why note-taking is so important, deciphering what information to include in notes, creating abbreviations and shorthand, and creating headings and levels of significance within notes. The class is structured as a guided practice in using good note-taking skills, and we will work together to create notes for the topics covered in the meeting. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, and thank you for checking out my teacher profile!
I am a private professional tutor and owner of Carpenter Tutoring. I have received certification as an Advanced Tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association, earned my M.Ed. from the College of William & Mary in 2020, and was named the Tutor of the Year at William & Mary in 2020. In my business, I work with learners of all ages and from all backgrounds in a range of academic subjects, time management, study skills, academic coaching, and even dissertation coaching. You can see a full list of topics I teach as well as my complete background at CarpenterTutoring.com. Please feel free to send me a message if you see a topic you’d like me to add as a class!
I believe that every learner is capable of gaining deep understanding of virtually any topic--sometimes all it takes is finding a way to explain the material that matches that learner's style! With this belief as a foundation, I structure my classes to introduce students to concepts in multiple ways so that they can choose the methodology or explanation that works best for them. I also believe that collaboration is very important. One student may conceptualize something in a way that I've never considered, and sharing those unique insights and perspectives is immeasurably important!
My classes focus on subjects for which I have a solid knowledge foundation as well as genuine passion. I aim to create classes that will arm students with the tools they'll need to be successful moving forward, whether that means moving to the next level of math or turning a love of film scores into a budding practice in writing scores!
