Description
Class Experience
Writing your thoughts down in a concise and comprehensive manner is a key literary skill to acquire. In this class, students learn to take good notes based on what they hear, read or see and then turn it into a short and concise summary paragraph. In each class, students will learn to take notes on material they read/listen to and then summarize the various forms of literature they will be exposed to. Homework will include practicing what was learned in class by taking notes and summarizing...
Students will improve their reading skills, note taking skills and summarizing skills. Teacher will guide the students in how to take good notes and then allow for practice time and homework. Teacher will then assess and give feedback to students to help improve.
Week 1: Homework - Take notes on a non-fiction article assigned. Week 2: Homework - Take notes on a piece of fiction.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
- National Geographic Kids
Informal assessment will be provided for all work that is turned in before class.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Handouts will be provided to help students with the assigned homework. They will be working outside of class to read and take notes on their readings based on the lesson of the day.
