Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching in a classroom for over 25 years. I plan to address the sensitive topics in this class the same way I would in my brick and mortar classroom: directly and age-appropriately. Before we come across the topics in the novel, we will have discussions to explain the dilemmas faced by the characters and to discuss certain choices characters make in the book. If students or parents have further questions, I would be happy to discuss these questions with them at any time.
