Class Experience

In this one-time class, we will discover three new styles of note-taking that students can use to improve their speed and efficiency for teens. I will thoroughly explore the three styles, showing students examples of how they are done. Presentation will be engaging with video clips and images, and we will practice each of the styles as well so that students can try them out. Styles included are the Cornell style of note-taking, the outlining style of note-taking, and mind-mapping. I will also show students how to take notes quickly using short-cuts.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am a fifteen-year veteran public school teacher licensed in many subjects including middle school History/Social Science, English, and teaching experience with the Humanities. I have taught U.S. History for almost fifteen years, and have been teaching Civics and Economics for the last two. I love reading, writing, journaling, and helping students with these skills.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Secondary Education, and a have background in archaeology and forensic studies. I have a master's degree in Literacy and Culture with a Reading Specialist endorsement, which I have used in the classroom for many years to help students with reading skills. I love helping young people enjoy reading! I am a leader in Boy Scouts counseling multiple merit badge classes, and a 4-H instructor teaching STEM, habitat management, and wildlife programming.

I have always loved teaching, it is my passion and I love introducing students to topics that they might not normally encounter.

On a personal note, I am a mom to two active boys and we live in the country where we garden, raise chickens, and enjoy the simple life!
