Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Calling all writers!

Do you have a writer who could use extra support building structure and confidence? Or a thriving writer ready to take their skills to the next level? This class is designed for both! With personalized, 1:1 guidance and feedback, students will learn and practice the entire nonfiction writing process—from brainstorming ideas and conducting research to organizing their structure, drafting, revising, and sharing their final piece.

Throughout the course, learners will explore nonfiction writing by choosing a topic of interest, gathering information from reliable sources, developing a clear structure, and crafting a strong introduction, body, and conclusion. Along the way, they’ll learn strategies to strengthen their writing, improve transitions, and add detail and depth to their work.

All lessons and assignments will be organized in an interactive Google Slides document that each student will receive their own copy of. This allows them to follow along easily, complete their work in one place, and revisit lessons whenever needed.

Each class will follow a consistent, supportive structure. We’ll begin together as a group, where I will introduce and model the day’s concept. Students will then practice the skill with guidance and ask any questions they may have. Next, learners will move into their own breakout rooms to work independently on their writing while I check in individually to provide personalized feedback and support. At times, students may also collaborate with peers to encourage teamwork and creativity. We’ll always end class by coming back together to share progress and celebrate growth.

At the end of our 8 weeks, we’ll hold a Writing Celebration, where students will proudly share their completed nonfiction pieces and reflect on how much they’ve grown as writers.

Whenever I teach, I make sure lessons are engaging, clear, and fun. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, confident, and excited about what they’re creating.

This class is designed for learners who already have experience forming complete sentences (recommended ages 8–12).
