Skills covered include, listening, speaking, connecting to a story, sharing ideas. Learners will put their ideas into a spoken and then written sentence. First, learners will listen to a short non-fiction story, "Dogs" by Cari Meister. Then, we will discuss ideas for a written response and then work together to write a sentence or two about dogs. My job is to coach your learner through putting their idea into a manageable sentence and then stretching out words as they write the sentence...
Using a five-step, interactive process, students will improve their ability to speak, to write a simple sentence, and to spell age-appropriate high frequency words. Please note: We will use phonetic (developmentally appropriate) spelling for some words. This course does not focus on spelling, but builds confidence in getting ideas on paper.
