Class Experience

Students will improve their listening, speaking, reading, writing and presentation skills by learning about famous world sports competitions.
I am an Ontario Certified Teacher and am in my 14th year of teaching. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Education and am a qualified reading teacher. I love learning about sports!
Students will choose a famous sport competition or athlete that they are interested in and will prepare a short presentation about it. Students will be given specific information to include in their presentation to help guide their research.
A one-page handout will be uploaded 24 hours before each class for families to print out ahead of time. This will contain all of the information they will need for the class as well as the reading we will work on together in class. I will also upload an organizer for their research project to help learners plan out their project and to keep track of the things they learned.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will be given an informal, anecdotal comments during class to help encourage them.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students may need help (depending on their age) finding research on their sporting event or famous athlete outside of class.
