Class will be taught using an I Do, We Do, You Do method where the teacher will demonstrate the strategy, then students will walk the teacher through the strategy and last they will complete the strategy on their own. The first part of class we will discuss the definition of a fraction, denominator, numerator, factors and multiples. In the next part of class the teacher will begin by showing the students how to find factors using factor rainbows. I have been teaching 3-5th grade for 21 years and 8th grade science for the last three years. I am passionate about connecting the real world to what students are learning in the classroom with their interests and hobbies. I teach classes that reinforce skills in math through games and discussions, book clubs for those lovers of books, hands on inquiry lessons in science and real world experiences. Math games focus on fractions, multiplication and division. Book clubs will involve outside reading, in depth discussions during our class time, and hands on projects to make connections. Real world experience classes focusing on creating a budget for a vacation, and creating schedules to allow for time management. I am the teacher that relates your learning to your life. My three top interests outside of school are Disney, long distance running and Harry Potter. I have been long distance running for 15 years and of course bringing my two interests together I run at Disney! I can't wait to get to know your student.
