Shakespeare Lives! In fact, many of the words we use today were created by Shakespeare, and the themes presented in his plays are still relevant as well. Let's take Julius Caesar...it is ALL about friendships and the problems that arise in those relationships. Relatable? Totally! As you may be able to tell, teaching Shakespeare brings me so much joy, but what brings me even greater joy is seeing my students actually UNDERSTAND his plays! That's where No Fear Shakespeare comes in. ...
Students will improve their understanding of the Shakespearean language and relate his plays and themes to real-life.
I have been studying Shakespeare for over 30 years and have been teaching his works to hundreds of students each year for the past 20 years.
Each week I will assign enrichment activities the students can do. This is not a requirement but will be strongly encouraged. Many of them are so much fun, they won't want to miss out on doing them!
Students should have access to Internet during class so they can reference their online text and a writing utensil.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If a student needs credit for this class, I will gladly provide a rubric for grading. If this is the case, please make a request to me.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will be using the No Fear Shakespeare online version (free). I will provide that link before class starts.
