Class Experience
Historically, men have been viewed as the war heroes. When society thinks of women in war, we think only of their roles "back home." They had other roles, too, though. In this class, we'll learn about WWII's "Night Witches," Finland's Women's Red Guard, Russia's Women's Battalion, Mulan, and more! Lecture, discussion, pictures, and video clips will be employed. I am an experienced public high school English teacher and unschooling mama with a passion for education, literature, critical thought, and intersectionality.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Obviously, war and the violence accompanying it will be discussed as it pertains to the topic at hand. Those with particularly sensitive students may wish to sit nearby, but off camera.
