Week 1Lesson 1Rules of Conversation & the Importance of Body LanguageWe will be learning multiple "rules of conversations", why body language is important while having a conversation.Week 2Lesson 2Being respectful of others, sharing the conversation, staying on topicThis lesson will be discussing why it is important to be respectful of others, how to share the conversation, how to stay on topic (and why you'd want to!)Week 3Lesson 3Conversation Starters and TipsIn this lesson, I will be giving lots of great ideas to start conversations as well as some fantastic tips on how to carry on a positive conversation.Week 4Lesson 4Conversation Blunders & StrugglesThis lesson, we will be learning how to politely ask for clarification, what not to do in a conversation, and some things to keep in mind that will help lower your anxiety when it comes to having conversations with others!
By the end of this self paced course, students will know the rules of being a great conversationalist (an art that is sometimes lost in this day and age of technology and text messages), tips on having a positive conversation, how to share the conversation with others, the importance of body language and eye contact during a conversation, and more!
I am excited to present this class to you because I have extensive experience with teaching social skills to middle and high schoolers. I have a degree in psychology with a concentration in child development. I worked with our local community service board in the school system for 8 years working with children and teens ages 3-18. I taught a weekly group about social skills, among other things, and did individual counseling daily.
